I guess you can say that the blog's been a bit gay-themed lately...I mean what can I say? Anyway, here's some fun things...
Totally Radd? Totally LA? I dunno. It's a great song, though. Thanks, Eric.
The Sounds...can't say I'm a real fan of theirs, but I can't resist them when Rex touches them with gold.
And then there's The Knife/Booka Shade because I think it's been the year of Knife/Shade. Maybe Knife more than Shade, personally, but regardless it's been a great year for their releases.
Totally Radd!!: Dressed Up
The Sounds: Tony The Beat (Rex the Dog Remix)

So a few days ago my iTunes (always on random) decided to play a Stuart Price remix of Britney Spears' "Breath On Me". And then yesterday as I was getting my hair cut at a cute Japanese salon off of St. Marks- what do you know, the Thin White Duke Mix of "What You Waiting For" came on!
Hence this post will be called Guilty Pleasures (Or Maybe Not So Guilty Pleaures) #1. This week's issue?
Faggy Stuart Price remixes!
Britney Spears: Breath On Me (Jacques Lu Cont's Thin White Duke Mix)
Gwen Stefani: What You Waiting For (Jacques Lu Cont's Thin White Duke Mix)
Madonna: Hollywood (Jacques Lu Cont's Thin White Duke Mix)

So ever since the M83 Remix of Telex's How Do You Dance fell on my lap, dance fever's been making me sick...

Aphex Twin: Curtains
Trentemøller: While The Cold Winter Is Waiting
Broker/Dealer: Feel Free
I don't know, but this whole electro-dance-rock-nu:rave thing may be getting a little out of control for me. Mind you I love a good dance number, but Klaxons sound like Van She who sound like Gang Bang (or Bang Gang or whatever they're called) who sound like The Valentinos who sound like any other MSTRKRFT track. And you know, I love me the Kitsuné catalogue, but why, why, why are they releasing Gun'n'Bombs?! It sounds like every other shit that comes out: Daft Punk being butchered (not even burned) at the stake!
Don't really know where I'm going with this...I'll keep things spiced up.
PS: Scary Spice is pregnant with Eddie Murphy's baby!?

So The Knife swept the city with a force and went west. It was indeed quite a show; such reverence from the audience...incredible....
The Knife: Like A Pen (Demo Version)
On the other hand, Rex the Dog is back with more retro-infused high energy synth-pop house! Hurrah!
Rex the Dog: Everyday (Could Be The Last Day)
And I depart with a tantalizing tekno trak:

Yesterday found myself sitting and watching Madonna's Truth or Dare from 1991 and I must say that it was truly delightful, insightful, and completely irreverent. A must watch.

Must say that Drew Daniel (half Matmos, whole Soft Pink Truth) is sexy.
Anyway, his Bjork remix with the analog synth and the cymbals may be confused with a Peaches/The Knife crossbreed. It's not though. It works, even though I try to dismiss Bjork in this blog even though she's had a great impact on our music blah, blah, blah, but I can't help but enjoy this track.

The first one is not to be confused by the Kitsuné released version. Same band, same charming crooning man, different version- if anything it's the new "real" version of it?
The last one is from The Knife's self-titled first version...aaandd....below that is an image from the America-bound Silent Shout Tour as can be viewed on theknife.net.
The Whitest Boy Alive: Inflation
Matthew Dear: Dog Days
The Knife: I Take Time

Don't know much about Twice A Man, except that they have that super sexy minimal-wave sound that just drives me insane. Apparently their Swedes and now they're some art collective.
I also love remixes of Spektrum tracks.
Yes.

So I'm slowly getting back in the game. In an attempt to find a free file host, I established a Mac account. Hopefully it works. Let me know if it's a failure. Here's a few treats while I'm at it.
James Figurine: Ruining the Sundays
DAF: Der Mussolini
Sam Koivikko: Pääjääsä
Aug 31: Ghostly International @ Tribeca Grand
Sept. 29: Ladytron @ Webster Hall/ DJ set at Hiro (?)

Trying to hang in there during these dog days. I'll be in Houston on the fifth and will return until the fourteenth- hopefully with a new plan of action.

The first one is an old favorite of mine that I will always love and never get tired of- I can even sing the lyrics at her pitch if I try enough.
The second is a newfound favorite of mine that I'm totally in love with right now.
And last but definetly not least is a pairing of two of my favorites- a reunion if you will, of Rex the Dog reworking The Knife. I must add that it really didn't live up to my expectations; I mean it had to live up the remix of "Heartbeats" otherwise it would fail. I doesnt fail; but nay- it does falls short. I still like it of course. I am dreaming of the day when the pup throws it back like "I Look Into Mid Air" and releases a full album....
But as for now, I'd rather pop in Christoper & Rapheal Just's "Popper"- especially the Discotown original. And the Shinichi Osawa Distortion remix. And even the track plus the Fox n' Wolf vocals. Did I mention I'm in love with this song also? And Kitsune?
Hanayo: Joe Le Taxi
Serge Santiago: Bad Passion
The Knife: Marble House (Rex the Dog Remix)
By the way, why is it that Houston begins to shine when I've long gone moved away? This shit never happened when I lived there!: The Boys & Girls Club

Photocall: Silver Clouds
New Baccara: Tokyo By Night
The first track's from the Go Commando compilation; the second, a self-discovered piece of italo-disco/synth-pop trash. Pure cheese, in the sense that it's one of those tracks you could only find amusing drunk at home with a buddy. Otherwise, it'd be totally fagulous. Just pay attention to the lyrics about 2:20 minutes in- she's not really saying "Fuck me, fuck me" in a faux Japanese accent, is she?
By the way, that particular track is dedicated to the humilated, yet hilarious Japanese girl on So You Think You Can Dance- yet another item on my list of guilty pleasures.

Oh Alex Smoke...I've seriously been obessing over the new album for the past few days now. Albeit, it's gloominess has been rubbing off on me a lot though. That and the stupid weather.
So Daniel Wang, here. Just realized that I also have track another with him, collaborting with Erlend and Kaos, hidden in my iTunes- "Lessons in Love." This track, however is from the Ghostly crew and it's definetly cruising on a hot day with a lemonade slushy, stuck on the freeway, sunglasses beaming, skyline reflecting kind of music. I can't help but think that at some moments the track feels a little too loungy, but it feels all better again when the crescendo surfaces and my head begins to bob up and down.
Daniel Wang: Berlin Sunrise

So after spending literally an entire day at court (public drinking- St. Patrick's Day, I mean c'mon!) I decided to go music shopping. Right about now, I feel, is the time when all the fun shit comes out. I mean we have Rex the Dog coming out with what are going to be yet another two amazing remixes- one for Röyksopp and a reunion remix for The Knife! And then, one of my many musical obsessions, Mr, Erlend Øye, is releasing his side project's, The Whitest Boy Alive's, first album next month. And then on top of it all Kitsuné is releasing Kitsuné Maison 2 in June!
And without further ado, I give the gifts of my own language:
Exchpopture: Lost and Found
Don't know much about them. But this one's on the original Kitsuné Maison and I totally love the camp of it all. It kind of reminds me of something that would have been on the Party Monster soundtrack- I don't care what you say, but I've always obsessed over that soundtrack. I'm such a gay.
On a similar electro 2001 scale, I present I-F, whose known more as Ferenc. This one's from his wesome Fucking Consumer 12". He's actually from The Hague, Holland and this particular song has always just made me just move like an alien. Naturally it's called:
I-F: Space Invaders Are Smoking Grass
Which brings me to this one, which I picked up off of Idol Tryouts: Ghostly International Vol. 1. Apparently it was released previously on the label on a post-electroclash compilation entitled Disco Nouveau: Addendum. I may not exactly know what I'm talking about with this one. Give it a shot.
Charles Manier: At the Bottle
So I grabbed the new Alex Smoke, Paradolia, today. It totally got me by surprise. I just didn't even really notice that it was about to come and upon seeing it so neatly displayed...of course I had to get it. The first track's from his previous album, Incommunicado, and was the first Smoke song to grab me and hold me mentally sedative in all the good ways. His style of minimal house music has a voice of its own that's morbidly sweet yet brilliantly melancholic at the same time. The second track is jut a brilliant piece from Paradolia.
Alex Smoke: No Consequence
Alex Smoke: We Like It Insipid
And finally Dj T. from Get Physical. I painfully forgot my Boogie-Playground visting my best friend Eric, in Baltimore. So I bought the Cd because it had three additional tracks than the vinyl copy.
DJ T.: Rave d'Amour

I actually spent my New Year's this past January with the guy on the right.
There I was dancing up and down, sweat flying everywhere, my boots a'tapping, beer a'swiggin', the records a'spinnin'. He's seriouly fucking amazing, I mean if this music doesn't make you want to dance, then you honestly should die. Seriously.
His name's Rex the Dog and he's an electro-star guaranteed to make your paws move. Oh Kompakt...

Oh,The Knife...
"The Swedish brother-and-sister duo work mostly on their own in splendid isolation; they release music on their own label, licensing it to selected partners around the world, so they have to answer to no one" (theknife.net).
And they're just another one of my electro-pop obsessions....
The Knife: Marble House
This one's from their most recent album, SILENT SHOUT. They're touring Europe right now. I'd die to see them live. They have an amazing awesome visual style.

I'm trying this whole musicblog thing out. I like my music. I'm sure others will too.
So here it goes.
First track up is from the mysterious Popular Computer, "I Can't Forget You." Works with Kitsune, only has three songs out, and in addition a remix for Mylo. He's French and fabulous. 'Tis all.
Popular Computer: I Can't Forget You
PS: The 12" has a Gildas & Masaya Edit and a Mr. Fingers remix, not to mention the track's spin off, "I Can Do Without You".
FRRRNANDO!
